Frank Luther found himself undergoing a trial by fire when he started playing bass at 16 in the blues clubs of Chicago's South Side. In Chicago he worked with Herbie Hancock, and Al Cohn-Zoot Sims. He then moved to New York City to play with Chet Baker, Don Elliot, Gerry Mulligan, Lionel Hampton, Jimmy Cobb, and Warren Bernhardt among others.

After leaving the commercial circuit he moved to Woodstock, New York where he lives to pursue music as a personal celebration.

2002 winner of Moscow's 21st-Century Second International Contest, she has toured Europe and Asia with the Mongolian group Badma-Khanda, and the USA with American avant garde trombonist Roswell Rudd. She has performed at festivals in Norway, China, Malaysia, and the US.
