A 24-year-old Queens man died early yesterday morning after being shot during an attempted burglary, the police said. According to the police, the man, Edward Glowaski, broke into the third-floor apartment of Fred Hammer at 37-68 97th Street, in the Corona section, at about 10 P.M. Saturday. Mr. Hammer, 76 years old, fired a .32-caliber revolver once into Mr. Glowaski's chest. Mr. Glowaski, who lived at 40-17 60th Street in the Woodside section, died at 2:30 A.M yesterday in Elmhurst Hospital.

The police said Mr. Hammer was given a summons for having an unlicensed gun. Mr. Glowaski was a self-described graffiti ''artist'' who called himself Caine 1. Some of his canvases were exhibited at Graffiti: Aboveground, a gallery in Greenwich Village.
